Well, I am back in Ohio for the holidays! I have spent to past 2 days with my nephew Rodney, and it has been amazing! He has gotten so big and I have missed him so much! It breaks my heart to know that when I leave, it will be summer and he will be walking before I see him again :( I haven't seen Halen yet, so I am very excited to see her in a couple of days for Christmas and to spend some time with my little angel!
I haven't updated in a while, so here's what's been going on in my life the past month:
The first weekend in Decemeber, the Marauders had our first track meet. It was bittersweet in many ways for me, and it was very strange not knowing any of the teams or opponents there, but I'm sure in time I'll learn the people to watch out for. The meet was a pretty good meet for our first one of the season. We had 5 national qualifying marks - 2 in women's tj, 1 men's shot, 1 men's weight, and 1 women's hurdles. So, overall our field events did well, but we didn't have a very impressive showing in the sprints. And of course, the distance crew was off for the weekend after finishing a very long cross season (our women's team placed 18th in the nation at DII nationals in Evansville, IN!!).
Our next meet is in Fargo on Jan. 17, so we've just been gearing up and training hard. The kids only have 2 weeks off for Christmas break, so hopefully they won't slack off too much and wash their Fall training down the drain.
Other than track, I've still been working at the hotel, and let me tell you - getting up so early is definitely starting to take its toll on me. Working 13ish hour days isn't going well anymore.. lol, but hopefully after my 2 week vacation at home I'll be refreshed and ready to go again!
I finished my first semester of graduate work! :) I got a B in the financial decisions class :( I was hoping for a 4.0 in my program, but 1 B is okay I guess. I'm still waiting to get my grade back in Economics, but I'm hoping for an A and think I did well in the class, so I'm crossing my fingers!!
Well, that's about all that's been going on with me. I'm just trying to enjoy my time home with my family because once it's up, it's going to be a while before I see them again!
Happy Holidays and see you all very soon!
Love,
Amy

Back in ND
Well, I just got back to North Dakota a couple of days ago, and I assure you nothing skipped a beat while I was gone. We recently had a tragedy on the track team and a student athlete passed away, so that was not a fun situation to come back too. (RIP Chris Faller, you will be missed greatly)
However, my time at home was amazing. I had such a blast spending time with my family and the babies. I forgot how nice and relaxing it was to be at home and be able to see everyone whenever I wanted, so it definitely wasn't easy leaving again. It especially breaks my heart when Grandma cries. I miss you so much and love you so much, Grandma, and I'll be home for good before you know it! And I know you worry about me out here, but don't.. I am doing fine and hanging in there!
The wedding was nice. It's so crazy to think that my Uncle Larry is married! The last of my mother's siblings are finally all hitched! Makes me kinda sad though, because I love weddings! But, luckily some of the grandkids probably arent too far behind.
Practice has been going well lately. After I had an intervention with my athletes, things have gotten a lot better and our communication and respect issues have not been a problem so far. That is definitely making being here much easier now.
Well, can't wait to be home for TWO WEEKS over Christmas. But until then, wish me luck!
Love,
Amy

Going Home!
Well, it certainly has been a while since I last wrote. I guess I've finally gotten into a swing of things. Work is going alright, although I am very sick of waking up at 4:30am four days a week. And on Fridays we have practice at 6:30am, so I still don't really get to even sleep in on my day off!
This week is a very exciting week for me. I had been having trouble with some of my athletes disrespecting me, so I sat down with them and had a talk so that we could take care of the situation before it got worse. The talks went okay, I think, but only time will tell. Practice was much better today, and we're not there yet but they are putting in an effort now.
Friday I am taking care of a recruit visit. I'm pretty nervous about it, but Coach is letting me do it on my own, so that makes me feel better. I just hope I can answer the questions that she asks me about the school and program.
Anddd, later that day I AM COMING HOME! I cannot wait to see Ohio soil. It's funny how everyone that lives in Ohio complains about it and wants to leave. But once you get out, it's a whole different story. I really cannot wait to see my family, especially Halen and Rodney. I bet they are going to look so different and they have grown so much!
I have begun to make some pretty good friends.. I found my North Dakota "Brett". lol.. and no, Dad.. you don't know him so he isnt really my friend! :) I've met a few sour apples along the way, but I think I'm getting there and things will start to calm down soon.
Until then, I am just focusing on seeing my family this weekend and trying not to let anything get me down.
See you in Ohio soon!

Finally got a job!
This week has been very crazy and exciting! I finally got a job at the Comfort Suites as the breakfast attendant, and I started on Labor Day.
The job isn't too hard. All I really have to do is make sure that there is always coffee, donuts, muffins, bagels, bread, milk, juice, oatmeal, cereal, eggs, and whichever hot breakfast we have that day (which is either sausage or ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches on biscuits, sausage links or bacon with scrambeled eggs, or gravy and bistuits).
I am also in charge of the meeting rooms, but all I have to do is make sure there is fresh coffee, cookies, water, and clean cups in the meeting rooms when the people go to lunch. Or if the conference is done at noon, I have to stay and tear that down.
I also mop the lobby, clean the windows, and take out the trash.
It kinda sounds like a lot, but it really isn't and on days that I don't have to wait to change a conference room, I get done by noon. Otherwise I'm done between 12:30 and 1. The only bad part is that I have to be there by 5:30 am.
I was hired not to work weekends because I can't due to track. But the lady who does the schedule put me on for every weekend, only weekend, from now until November. However, I got that switched so I should only be working during the week now.
Other than that, nothing new has really been going on..
More updates next week!
Miss you all!

Rough Weekend
Well, I have made a friend. Her name is Savannah and she works in the track office with me, so I actually went out this weekend! Her boyfriend and friends are all very nice, and it was refreshing not watching movies I rented from Blockbuster alone!
However, Saturday night my car overheated. Knowing my luck, you probably aren't surprised by that! So, I've been bumming rides to and from campus and around town from people I hardly know. Kinda ups the awkwardness-antee! My car is in the shop now, and should hopefully be done tomorrow by noon. Unfortunately, I also have to get my power steering fixed on Friday so the car will go back to the shop and I will go back to bumming rides! I guess I never realized how convenient it was to have Dad just down the road be able to drive to Tiffin and fix my car for me. Or having 4 roommates that where going anywhere I needed to go that it wasn't a hassle for me to tag along!
Sunday was my niece Halen's baptism. My brother Ray emailed me pictures, and she looked so gorgeous in her little gown! Just like a princess! That's when it really hit home to me how far away I was from everything and really missing out on all that is happening at home. I don't know if maybe I expected life in Ohio to halt once I left, and the pictures made me realize that it doesn't. However, Ray and Sades, when you read this to Halen.. please do not let her be sad for me!! I know that being here is just something that I had to do, and it is only for 2 years. And Halen, when I get back, I promise I am going to be the best Aunt ever and make it up to you and Rodney for leaving!!
I officially become a Coach tomorrow at out Track meeting. I have gotten together my workouts for the next month, and Coach Focht has helped me out major with a lifting program - Thanks CF! Let's hope it all goes well!
Wish me Luck!

Survival
Well, I made it through my first week on my own. In the office, I have been doing a lot of work with recruiting and getting all of our prospective athletes entered into a database that we can use to send them questionnaires and other good stuff like that for next year. Crazy to think that we haven't even started our season this year and are already trying to get ready for next!
This weekend was pretty slow, but I kept busy by getting some work done in the office and watching lots of movies. I still don't have cable yet, so much of my time is spent watching House in DVD and many many movies! I haven't met many people yet, but the students moved in this weekend and so the other coaches should be making it into the office this week or next. So, hopefully I will be making some new friends soon!
I still have a lot of work to do with getting my workout programs and weightlifting designed. The first Cross meeting is tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I will have to go to that or not. Otherwise, our first Track team meeting is Sept. 2 and I would love to have my workouts in order by then. Or at least have a preseason conditioning routine put together for the athletes to prepare for the season. Hopefully they've been working out this summer though!
Official work starts tomorrow.. Wish me Luck!

Welcome Home!
There was much worry about my move out to Bismarck. My nephew was due on Aug. 6 and had not yet arrived, and I was bound and determined not to leave Ohio until I saw him. So, on Aug. 11 he finally came into the world (and was cute as a button!!), and I headed out West on Aug. 12. I finally arrived on Thursday, August 17, and let me tell you, was it hot! It was roughly 98degrees out here.. perfect weather for carrying numerous large objects into a building!
The weekend was pretty nice. My parents were here and the weather was great. I finally got everything unpacked and situated into my new home, and my parents hit some of the sites here. We went to this grill and bar called Buck's Roadhouse, of course.. and my dad had never been to Buffalo Wild Wings, so we ate there as well. On Saturday, we went to mass at the Cathedral, which happened to be a bit short of an actual Cathedral. Then we ate supper at a restaurant along the Missouri River. Sunday we had planned on going to the "beach" at the park across the street from my apartment that we were told about.. Well, more like Riverbed. It was slightly disappointing. So, we went to the Zoo instead, which was pretty fun!
This morning my parents headed home, and I had my first day of work in the office. My head coach basically just showed me the ropes and got me set up for recruiting, so it was not too overwhelming I hope. Tonight will be my first night alone in my apartment, so hopefully I survive and don't get too freaked out about all of those new little noises and such.
