Welcome to 2011!

I realize it has been close to a year since I last updated.. and I'm sure that most of you who used to read this no longer do.. but for those of you that are reading this, thank you for staying tuned!

A lot has happened in the past year that I have been in Bismarck. First and foremost, I have really begun to create a home for myself here (not saying that it could and will ever replace Ohio, but it is nice to feel as though I have a home here). Last summer, I moved in with a roommate. Her name is Erika, and she is from Hettinger, ND. I met her through class, and we get along pretty well. Our schedules are pretty opposite most of the time, and we don't see each other a whole lot, but we are able to live together as adults, clean up after ourselves, and hang out when we get the change. So, it's nice being able to come home to a clean apartment and not have to worry about a roommate trashing it.

I am still working at Victoria's Secret, and as most of you already know, have been promoted to the Category Supervisor of Beauty. It's a part-time, low-level manager, but it pays decently and it's helping me achieve my goal of eventually working at the corporate office in Columbus.

The Indoor track season is now under way. The girls have been competing very well so far this year. Our Women's Cross Country team competed at Nationals again this year and placed 11th, which was a great step up from 18th last year. As far as my jumpers go, I have one returning female and two returning males. One of my returning males is currently working back into shape from a knee surgery this year, and my other returning male recently fractured his tailbone and is out for the season. So, my faith right now is in my returning female Brittany. Although she didnt have a great meet this past weekend, she did the weekend before and shows promise of hitting a national provisional-qualifying mark. My other jumpers that I work with are all multis or freshman, but they have been working hard and I look forward to seeing them compete in the next few weeks.

School has been going great. My classes haven't been too stressful and I have been getting good grades. I only have 12 more weeks of classes and then I am FINISHED! Almost there.

That is about all of the updates I have for right now. See you all soon!

Love,
Amy

Catching Up

So, it's been a little while since I updated (sorry Craig, and thanks for continuing to remind me)! After I got back to Bismarck from Spring Break, things started to get very hectic and busy here. We had Outdoor Conference a couple weeks ago.. anddd, our girls got FIRST! We were expecting to battle for third, possibly take second, and we WON! It was so rewarding as a coach to see almost all of our women set a personal best, and to really all step up and work together to win the Championship! I was so proud of them!

This past weekend we had Nationals in Charlotte. Our women's 4x1 went, 2 girls in the 200, a girl in the 400, and a male shot putter. Our girls 4x1 pulled out a HUGE personal best and made it to finals, finishing 7th place - All-American! Our girl in the 400 also made it to finals and took 8th - another All-American! Even though I'm not a sprint coach, I was the only coach there with the girls at practice after conference, every day, before Nationals, so it was still really rewarding to see them go to Nationals and pull out some great races and bring everything together.

I recently got a part-time job over the summer that I'll continue to work at as much as I can once the kids are back at school.. I'm working at Victoria's Secret. I like it so far, but I don't know very much about bras or anything so that will take some getting used to. It's a lot different than Bath and Body Works, but it's owned by the same company (Limited Brands) and the home office is in New Albany, OH, so I'm glad to still be in the company so that maybe eventually I can get a job in Home Office.

Well, I'll be home July 22 - August 2 for Melissa's bachelorette/bridal shower.. and I CANNOT wait to see everyone and to finally be there to help with the wedding. It's been difficult planning this stuff over the phone, but I think we finally have everything figured out.. so everyone, expect your invites soon!

I must get back to cleaning up my apartment now. I mean spaghetti and meatballs today.. and they actually turned out! And now the kitchen is a mess.

Take care. Love and miss you all!

Spring Break 2010

Well, usually on Spring Break, everyone heads somewhere super warm, usually south. Me? I surprised my family and headed home to Ohio! My sister was the only one who knew since she picked me up from the airport, so you can imagine everyone's surprise when I walked in the door!

My dad said his first thought was "Oh no, she quit her job!" HA! Nope, didn't quit. Just needed a break and some good, old-fashioned, family bonding.

Ray and Halen came and stayed at my parent's house for the weekend. And we babysat Rodney on Saturday while Beth and Ryan were gone, so I got to spend ALL DAY with the 2 of them! It was great! They have both grown so much and look so different from when I saw them at Christmastime. I am definitely glad I got to come home and see them before they grew anymore!

Halen is crawling now. And boy, does she get around quick! Dad keeps joking that she's in her terrible two's already, and she's not even one yet! Rodney can't crawl quite yet, but he is able to scoot backwards! Rodney and Halen are just too funny together!

It was great getting to spend some time with the rest of my family also. I had lunch with Grandma today, and it was nice to get to just sit and talk with her one-on-one for a couple of hours. She told me lots of stories about her and Grandpa and how they met. It was great!

Tomorrow morning I head back to Bismarck. I am ready to get back and into my routine again, but I am definitely not ready to leave every one here behind again!

Until next time..

Amy

Busy Bee

Well, Indoor track season is officially in full swing. Last weekend we competed at NDSU in Fargo, ND, and this past weekend we were at Iowa State. We left Thursday afternoon and just got back Sunday morning at 6am!

Next weekend we have a lot going on. Friday we have Montana State, Saturday Concordia in MN, Sunday we have our annual pole vault clinic, plus a multi competition Sunday and Monday in Aberdeen, SD. I am only going to the Montana State and multi meet, but it'll be a long and exciting weekend for sure!

This weekend at the meet, one of my female high jumpers missed national qualifying marks by 3/4 of an inch!! So I have big hopes that she'll get it soon! One of my guys did well also; he jumped 6'5. Our sprinters and other jumpers did well also, so it was nice to get a solid meet under our belts.

Schoolwork has been very hectic lately. My classes are only 5 weeks long now, which makes time go very fast. But most of my courses from here on out are business management, which I took a lot of in my undergraduate degree, so hopefully it won't be too stressful.

I'm at the library now, working on a 4-5 page paper, and I better get back to that!

Miss and love you all!

Love,
Amy

Back to the Real World

Well, things are back in full swing here in North Dakota. Work has been, well.. work! And track practice has been going well so far. We have a meet on Sunday in Fargo, which I am super pumped for because it's really the start of our season. 7 weeks til conference!!

This past weekend, the school had an Athletics Staff Christmas party. It was a lot of fun, and it was great to finally get to meet some of the other coaches and GAs.

The weather was pretty insane last week. It got down to -25 degrees, without the wind chill! It was so cold, I'm not sure how I survived it. The weather has been alright this week so far, and it's supposed to get up to 38 degrees tomorrow! It still hasn't been very warm. I think today it only got up to 17 degrees, but it feels like a darn heat wave and I am certainly not complaining about that!

Since I got in trouble last time I updated, I'll mention it now - miss you, too Craig! :)

I can't wait to go home again and see my family. Now that track is starting full swing with meets, I'm hoping that the time goes by very fast! I also start class again this week, so that will keep me plenty busy as well.

Miss you all, and can't wait to see you again!
Love,
Amy

Happy 2010!

Well, it's 2010, and I'm on my way back to Bismarck. It's so cold here.. It's going to take me forever to get used to it again!!

Being home in Ohio for 2 weeks was amazing! I got to see my niece and nephew, and the rest of my family. But it was sooo hard to say goodbye to all of them :(

Rodney can roll over now. He can only go from his back to his stomach, and he only does it over his left shoulder. He hasn't quit figured out how to go from his stomach to his back yet, so when he rolls over he gets so frustrated on his stomach and starts crying. It's so funny how frustrated he gets, but I'm sure he'll figure out soon how to roll back over!

Halen has her first tooth! It's so cute and tiny. She is sitting up very well by herself now, also! She's such a big girl! Halen's new thing is giggling, and I just love her little laugh. She will just sit all day and laugh. She cracks herself up, and it is so funny! By the time I see her again, she'll easily be walking!

Everything else at home is going well, also. Talked about more plans for Melissa's wedding and tried to figure out a time for me to come home for her Bachelorette party and Bridal shower. It's really hard to plan a wedding when I'm a thousand miles apart, but we're doing as best as we can!

I got to see my Tiffin friends for NYE, and that was definitely a crazy time, of course! We haven't all been together since August (except Mel couldn't be there:(). But it was nice to get most of us together and spend a wild time together. It was definitely a blast, and I am going to miss them so much!

I'm struggling with the idea of going back to work Tuesday morning - it was so nice sleeping in for 2 weeks! Getting up so early will definitely NOT be fun!

Well, I better get to work on putting together some workouts for this week and doing homework!

Miss you all in Ohio, and I can't wait to see you all again!

Love,
Amy

Home, Sweet, Home

Well, I am back in Ohio for the holidays! I have spent to past 2 days with my nephew Rodney, and it has been amazing! He has gotten so big and I have missed him so much! It breaks my heart to know that when I leave, it will be summer and he will be walking before I see him again :( I haven't seen Halen yet, so I am very excited to see her in a couple of days for Christmas and to spend some time with my little angel!

I haven't updated in a while, so here's what's been going on in my life the past month:

The first weekend in Decemeber, the Marauders had our first track meet. It was bittersweet in many ways for me, and it was very strange not knowing any of the teams or opponents there, but I'm sure in time I'll learn the people to watch out for. The meet was a pretty good meet for our first one of the season. We had 5 national qualifying marks - 2 in women's tj, 1 men's shot, 1 men's weight, and 1 women's hurdles. So, overall our field events did well, but we didn't have a very impressive showing in the sprints. And of course, the distance crew was off for the weekend after finishing a very long cross season (our women's team placed 18th in the nation at DII nationals in Evansville, IN!!).

Our next meet is in Fargo on Jan. 17, so we've just been gearing up and training hard. The kids only have 2 weeks off for Christmas break, so hopefully they won't slack off too much and wash their Fall training down the drain.

Other than track, I've still been working at the hotel, and let me tell you - getting up so early is definitely starting to take its toll on me. Working 13ish hour days isn't going well anymore.. lol, but hopefully after my 2 week vacation at home I'll be refreshed and ready to go again!

I finished my first semester of graduate work! :) I got a B in the financial decisions class :( I was hoping for a 4.0 in my program, but 1 B is okay I guess. I'm still waiting to get my grade back in Economics, but I'm hoping for an A and think I did well in the class, so I'm crossing my fingers!!

Well, that's about all that's been going on with me. I'm just trying to enjoy my time home with my family because once it's up, it's going to be a while before I see them again!

Happy Holidays and see you all very soon!

Love,
Amy
